FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – Firefighters say Daylight Saving Time could save your life.

Daylight Saving Time begins overnight Saturday stealing an hour from your slumber on Sunday. Turns out, Daylight Saving Time could actually save your life from a fatal house fire.

According to the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD), more than 70 percent of fatal fires could be prevented by changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon dioxide detectors at least twice a year. By using daylight saving time as a checkpoint, fire officials urge as you go through your homes and change the clocks, you should also replace the batteries in your detectors.
