WASHINGTON (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - First there were the four food groups, then the food pyramid. Now get ready for the plate!
After 20-years of the food pyramid, the USDA's new healthy eating symbol will reportedly resemble a pie chart with four colored sections.
Each represents how much of the food groups people should eat in a meal.
The original pyramid was released in 1992 and included the four food groups with the number of recommended servings of each group a person should eat in a day.
