LIGONIER, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Students at Ligonier Elementary school have walked over 27,000 miles during recess this year.

Fred Toenges Shoes gave away over 60 free running shoes to students that walked over 150 miles this school year.

The students say the shoes are a great motivation to walk, or run, each day.
Teacher's Assistant Sharon Rohrer says, “They go winter, spring, summer, it doesn't matter the weather, they're out there and they're walking with their friends.”

2nd Grader Kassidy Pyle says, “If I run a lot, it makes me want to run more everyday, so everyday I run, I'm like, yes, I'm closer to 150.”

The Colts and the NFL also support the program in Ligonier, which is now in its 6th year.
