Funeral Arrangements Made For IMPD Officer Perry Renn

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- Funeral arrangements have been made for Officer Perry Renn of the Indianapolis Police Department.

Services will be held Friday at Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis at 11;00 a.m.. There will be a visitation/viewing at Crown Hill Funeral Home between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m..

A 22-year veteran of the IMPD, Renn was killed Saturday July 5 after a shootout with a man armed with an assault weapon, according to investigators.

At about 11:20 p.m.,dispatchers reported via police radio that officer Perry Renn had died from his injuries.

Renn had initially been called to the vicinity of 34th Street and Forest Manor Avenue at 9:24 p.m. in response to gunfire. Renn was shot a few minutes later by a man identified as 25-year-old Major Davis Jr.

Both Renn and Davis were both taken to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment. Davis was listed in critical, but stable condition, as of 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Davis is expected to be charged with murder.

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard has ordered that all City-County facilities to have their flags at half-mast to honor Renn.
