FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Thousands of cute, colorful quackers floated down the St. Joe River in the 26th annual Weigand Construction Duck Race.
The race was held at Johnny Appleseed Park, and benefits "SCAN" or the "Stop Child Abuse and Neglect" organization.
For $5 people were given a duck—a plastic one—to compete in the river race. Organizers say over 18,000 ducks were placed in the river using a crane.
SCAN only awards the first 26 ducks to cross the finish line. No one won the $1 million prize, however, one lucky person did win $5,000.
SCAN raised over $180,000 which helps to put an end to child abuse.
