After a few well spoken concerns from various East Allen County School district individuals, Kirby Stahly started down the arduous task of presenting a rather gloomy looking 2011 budget. Despite a strong desire to rid myself of such a painful proceeding, I decided to watch intently in hopes of understanding the year after year argument to reorganize our district.
What I take away is an appreciation for the nuance of this project and a disgust for it's inefficiency. Government at it's finest.
At the end of the meeting, after many more heartfelt pleas by the public to consider communities and education first, I did start to pick up on a strong desire by some of the board members to be good stewards of funds so that they might leverage it for better education. Alas this seems to inevitably come at the cost of some schools. Which ones and how many is still a mystery.
