Albion, IN - After a harsh week of winter weather in the region, a large crowd of animal lovers and Valentines ventured out to explore Black Pine Animal Sanctuary today.
Cats 'n' Cocoa is an annual winter event and fundraiser that benefits the animals living at Black Pine, a non-profit exotic animal refuge that is home to tigers, bears, leopards, monkeys, birds, reptiles and many other rescued and retired exotic animals.
The event raised over $1,000 to help fund ongoing winter care, with many additional donations made by visitors bringing items the sanctuary publishes as needed on their "wish list" on their web site at www.blackpine.org.
The sanctuary is open by appointment for informative tours throughout the remainder of winter, and will resume regular visitor hours beginning in May. For more information call (260) 636-7383.
