In Chicago,IL there was a benefit concert for raising money for children in Haiti in need of prosthetics.
The concert was on Friday the 13th of May 2011 and was called,"The Sound of Gratitude". This concert was started for Juan Manuel Pineda a singer/guitar player from El Salvador who was born with a cleft palate, and lost both legs in a fire when he was young.
Several local musicans were at this Step Forward Concert, including Chris Medina from American Idol. Steve Augeri took time out of his busy schedule to donate his time for this concert, and was faithfully there for everyone. Why can't this night go on forever? It was almost a sold out event. After all the singers,Steve Augeri took the stage, first thanking everyone for their donations, then began singing some great timeless Journey songs. Steve Augeri, now solo, had replaced Steve Perry the original lead singer of Journey. Steve kept the audience dancing, and had all the kids in the audience come up on the last song,"Don't Stop Believing". After Steve's escape from the stage,Fort Wayne Model Jeannine, and I got a chance to meet him. I can tell you Steve is very nice, he was there with open arms. Steve Augeri told the fans he does have a new solo cd coming out. We went our separate ways, and glad we had the chance to meet him.Thank you to Friends of the Orphans,Juan Pineda, and NPH for helping the children in need.
