I loaded up the bags, and it was off to Minny. Minnesota that is! Minneapolis to be exact for the 2011 Americans For Prosperity "Right On Line" Conference.
The alarm clock went off at 5:00 A.M. and I was up and at it for the flight to the big event. All went well at the airport with myself and my wife, who attended the event with me because we were going to celebrate our 33RD wedding anniversary together at the event. Me as a Blogger, and her as an attendee.
Upon arrival we were greeted at the Minneapolis airport by our good friend Janet and taken away to a big breakfast at Perkins. After we ate we went to take in some of the sights. We visited The Fort Snelling National Cemetery, The falls at Minehaha Park, and then rode around the city looking at homes and landmarks. We topped of our sight seeing trip by visiting Lock And Dam Number one by watching a barge and several boats go through. Janet showed us a grand time.
Afterwords we were off to a nice lunch and The Hilton Hotel to check in for Friday's Conference.
I took my position at the counter to check in and turned to my wife and said, I think I hear Andrew Breitbarts voice. I looked around and there he was along with a mob of media. I called out his name and he walked over and shook my hand and placed his hand on my shoulder. I asked if I could have a picture with him and he agreed.
Later I was able to run into Andrew again in the lobby and watch him take on the media. After a while one of the reporters came over and interviewed me.
There was a reception at the hotel for those that came in on Thursday for early registration. It was very warm, and people mingled.
Friday morning we were off to the races with the opening session of the event kicking off. The first round of Breakout sessions went on until 1:00 P.M. We then attended the Opening Session which featured Congress woman Marsha Blackburn, Congressman John Kline, Ann McElhinny, and Melissa Clouthier. We were getting fired up.
I Tweeted, Face Booked, and Blogged until the session ended. Later that evening we attended the Grassroots Award Dinner. It was a smash as the food was delicious, and the speakers lit the place up. We heard Andrew Breitbart,U.S. Senator Mike Lee, Tim Phillips, Erik Telford; and others.
After dinner we were treated to a special screening of the new documentary "The Undefeated" The Sarah Palin Documentary.
After a good nights rest we were up and at it in the Bloggers lounge getting ready for the Saturday General Session. During that time I shot up to the Media room, and was interviewed by several radio stations, and talked with Tony Katz of PJTV, Andrew Breitbart, and Michelle Malkin, and a few others.
We then headed into the General session to hear Governor Tim Pawlenty (MN), Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Michelle Malkin, John Fund, Erik Erickson and others.
I blogged, tweeted, and Face Booked some more.
I was invited to lunch with my friends from the Michigan delegation of Americans For Prosperity. The food was great, and the fellowship was too. I was able to address this group, just prior to John Fund of The Wall Street Journal, who was invited as their special speaker, and guest.
After Lunch there were more Breakout sessions. We also had some unexpected guests. A group of Net roots protesters came up to our main Ballroom area to voice their opinion. Tony Katz of PJTV did a wonderful job of keeping them under control.
During this conference my wife and I met so many wonderful people from many different states. Conferences like all other event must come to an end. So it was off to the final Session which featured Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli of Virginia, Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, and Presidential Candidate Herman Cain. Of course Mr. Cain rocked the house with his upbeat style of speaking. I even had to shout out at him a few times during his speech.
After the speech we greeted our new friends, and said our goodbye's.
I look forward to the next Right On Line Conference. They are a great source of information, and inspiration.
