My Life Check Drive In Celebration

Even if you aren’t in the market for a new car, stopping by one of two Bart’s Car Stores on July 7 could be worth your time.

Bart’s Car Store is partnering with the American Heart Association to help educate the public about My Life Check, an assessment tool with the goal of improved health by educating the public on how best to live. In just a few minutes, My Life Check can assess the state of your heart and show you seven simple steps ("Life's Simple 7") you can take to start living your best life.

On July 7 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Bart’s Car Store in Fort Wayne (5530 Illinois Road Highway) and Columbia City (3536 E. Lincolnway) will host a My Life Check Drive-In event. During the hour-long, free event, you can enjoy snacks and refreshments, register to win cool prizes, receive a goody bag and healthy recipes cookbook from the American Heart Association, and take the free My Life Check assessment.

In addition, Bart’s Car Store is donating $20 to the American Heart Association from the sale of each car sold during the month of July at its Fort Wayne, Columbia City and Anderson locations. Bart’s Car Store will also provide customers purchasing cars in July with a My Life Check Kit from the American Heart Association.

By supporting the American Heart Association, we’re making an investment in all of our futures.”

In a recent survey, nearly 40% of people thought they were in ideal heart health, when in reality less than 1% of Americans have an ideal profile. In response, the American Heart Association developed My Life Check.

The association has linked "ideal cardiovascular health" to seven simple measures that people can influence through diet and lifestyle changes to move from poor and intermediate to ideal health. These measures have one unique thing in common: any person can make these changes, the steps are not expensive to take and even modest improvements to your health will make a big difference. This simple, seven step list has been developed to deliver on the hope we all have--to live a long, productive healthy life.
