My three sisters and nephew were riding bikes through downtown today (July 11th) as the storm rolled in. We thought we could make it to the library from Headwaters before it stormed...we were so wrong. We made it to Columbia Street when the winds picked up. Being terrified of storms, we tried to find shelter. The tent was thrown in the air behind us as we scrambled to get away from flying debris. Throwing our bikes on the street (my sister was trying to get her son out of his bike seat), we fled to a storefront to find doors locked. As I attempted to lay flat on the ground away from glass, my sister found a safe spot for us to run to in a restaurant. After the storm (and we) calmed down, we ventured out to see the carnage we rode through.
Bad day for a bikride
