How much purple do you see in November for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month? I sure see a LOT of pink in October. Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths. 94% of patients will die within 5yrs. of diagnosis and 74% will die within 1yr. Even though it is one of the deadliest cancers, the National Cancer Institute only delegates 2% of funding to this cancer. If you search on the internet on pancreatic cancer, it's like looking at a death sentence. Pancreatic Cancer research is where Breast Cancer research was 40 YEARS AGO! It is time to improve the statistics for pancreatic cancer.
On November 12, 2011 there will be a Pancakes for Pancreatic Cancer event. All proceeds will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. He missed me turning 30, missed his son getting married, and missed meeting every single grandchild being born. Another girl lost her mom only 2 WEEKS after diagnosis! There is not early detection method YET. There is no mammogram, colonoscopy. This cancer needs more attention, more awareness and BETTER statistics!!
Pleaes help us in our fight to improve the outlook for this horrible cancer.
