Proclamation proclaiming Latin Week

City declares Latin Week, HJCL

Latin Week, officially proclaimed by the city of Fort Wayne, is planned to occur from January 22 to 28, 2012. The week's main premise to gain awareness of Latin language and Roman culture that still remains today.
Homestead High School's Junior Classical League (Latin club) will help celebrate the week by taking part in five themed days.
January 23: Salve Day. Commemorate the Roman language by greeting in Latin- Salve!
January 24: Friendly Hand of JCL Day. Homestead's Latin club treat each other with respect and kindness. Join JCL and touch someone with an act of kindness as well.
January 25: Purple and Gold Day. During the Roman Empire, purple and gold were made colors of royalty. The two colors are also official colors of JCL. Embrace Roman culture and wear purple and gold.
January 26: Latin T-shirt Day. This day is dedicated for Homestead JCL members wearing their past club t-shirts.
January 27: Toga Day. The toga was the clothing worn by a Roman. Become a Roman yourself, and wear a toga for the day!
