Jeremy Bender

Ft Wayne girl shown on GMA this morning.

My 17 year old brother is ill and is currently battling for his life. A month ago, he was a healthy average teenager looking forward to summer vacation. Now he is at Riley’s Children’s hospital having a VAD implanted into his heart because he isn’t able to effectively pump oxygenated blood to his vital organs which had my parents not reacted in time would have failed due to a virus that they cannot identify nor fully explain. It is important that parents are educated on the symptoms and warning signs associated with this condition. It started with Jeremy coughing and vomiting after eating which my parents later found out was due to blood pooling in his stomach. He is on the waiting list to have a heart transplant classified as a 1A which is the highest classification and basically implies he cannot live without one. A very close friend of the family was shown on GMA on the double decker bus this morning with a sign reading Pray for Jeremy B! in the hopes of accumulating as many prayers for him as possible. Our cousin has also created a FB page, Pray for Jeremy Bender, dedicated to allowing people to give him words of encouragement. His battle is far from over so if you could not only educate the public on the importance of early detection but also ask for prayers for my brother, it would be greatly appreciated

Jeremy is a great young man who attends Carroll High School with my son. I would love to see this story on the news. Let's get the Fort Wayne community support for he and his family.

Jeremy has undergone many ups and major downs for a month but continues to fight against many odds as a young teen. The community would be inspired by this story and would benefit by being aware of the symptoms and need for early detection.

Its is scary that a virus could cause something so serious as this that it could make a heathly young mans organs to fail. I believe there needs to be awareness in the community that something like this does happen and what to do if it does.

What a great story this would make. Everyone should be made aware of how quickly one's health can deteriorate. Jeremy "Straw" is a courageous young man with a strong family. A feel-good story like this would be a wonderful thing to air....
