My Husband, Jeremy and I were out hiking in Huntington this past weekend, and we came across this American Bald Eagle's nest around the Resevoir. I don't want to give the exact location to keep the bird safe, but it's an amazing site if you happen to find it! The nest had babies in it, but unfortunately we couldn't get a clear picture of the babies in the nest.

I forgot to include in the description that my husband took all these pictures on a Nikon Digital Camera with a telephoto lense. We were actually across the river from the nest.

Wow--that's great that there have been more sightings, of the American Bald Eagles, around this part of Indiana!

Isnt the bald eagle extinct,or at least suppose to be?

The Bald Eagle is not extinct. As of June 2007 it is no longer on the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants. Check out my pictures of this particular eagle at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattgerlachphotography/2420699499/

That is amazing!!! That shows that our lovely Resevoir must be healthy and in good shape! I pray that the Mamma Eagle and her babies are healthy and stay in our area! I wonder if the daddy is around too? Great photos! You are so lucky to see this!

I have heard about them. Know where they are....but haven't had the chance to visit. Hope to soon. I understand that a lady who lives close can see the next from her yard. How wonderful!!

On Sunday, mid morning, I'm almost certain I spotted a mature bald eagle feeding on a deer carcass, in field 50-75 yards off hwy 24 between Huntington and Roanoke. There is small river that runs through that area. Any one else seen him?
