Returning from a visit with our daughter in Ky, we came across the I65 closure and tried to make it north on 31.
When we got to Columbus 31 was closed. As we drove around trying to find an different route we found that the flood waters were rising around us and roads we had driven on only a short time before had flooded and been closed.
We were stranded in a McDonald's parking lot until just before the river crested only a quarter of a mile from us. When we were told bridges were collapsing and the water would rise 23 feet we drove back roads on high ground until we finally found ourselves on a passable road hours later.
These are some shots we took as we tried to get out of Columbus from late afternoon until late evening.
