When a Fort Wayne Police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a maroon Chrysler minivan, the van failed to stop for the officers and they initiated a pursuit. The chase reached speeds of 50 mph going north up Fairfield Ave. where the suspect struck the police vehicles. The suspect was eventually stopped in the 1600 block of Fairfield near the GE factory. As many as 20 police cars were present at the scene. Traffic was blocked temporarily as the throng of police obstructed the street.
