I want to spread awareness about a disease that has a prison like effect on my life. It is called Elhers Danlos Syndrome and the hardest part is i look perfectly normal on the outside. EDS causes extreme flexibly due to a lack of collagen (what holds your body together). Those effected by EDS suffer from chronic and debilitating joint pain, mush wear braces, athletic tape and specialized garments to keep joints in place, often have bruises all over their bodies, have digestive issues ranging from Irritable Bowel Syndrome to lactose intolerance to complete incontinence and inability to absorb nutrition through the digestive system, birthmarks ranging from small light tan splotches to disfiguring, easy fatigue, insomnia, cluster headaches and most have to use canes crutches and are eventually wheelchair users or wheelchair bond, some are even bed bound. There are diseases that are debilitating, crippling and can be often be deadly, people need to know about them. Teachers, doctors and the general public should be aware of them, personally an uneducated doctor nearly cost me my reproductive system, continence, and very likely my life. Teachers make my life horrible everyday expecting things from me that i cannot do,currently walking and writing is among those. My peers are cruel and often repulsed by my joint braces, mobility and birthmarks.
