Last year Hilgers Friendly Market built a 30ft pumpkin out of 3400 Straw bales and on Halloween Night it was burned to the ground. Hilgers uses the straw at the end of the Fall Pumpkin Festival to cover the strawberry fields but had to buy all new in November of 2007. This year Hilgers have really out done themselves, they created a 50ft Giant pumpkin 20ft taller and 4,800 straw bales, estimated over 166,000 lbs. But don't worry they have the giant being watched to protected it from vandals. Next time you are on US 30 you are sure to this spectacular sight. Don't hesitate stopping and getting your picture with Hilgers Worlds Largest Pumpkin. Please leave a comment if you enjoyed seeing the great orange giant.

Pumpkin looks awesome - even better this year! I like how you set a real pumpkin in front of it to show scale - it's huge! Can't wait to stop out and see it!
