I woke up this morning arounf six a.m, hoping that we would not have school. As I was getting up, a bright light shined throughout the entire house. Then there was fire outside. I looked out the window and what I saw was unbelievable. Out in the distance on Reed Road (near Stellhorn), one of the power boxes was on fire. I woke up my mother and told her to call 911. She said that it was nothing and that I should just go back to sleep. So, I did. About an hour later, I heard a loud 'thump' in my backyard. I thought it was my garbage barrels rolling around so I went back to bed. As I awoke again around 8AM, I looked out my bedroom window to see what DID make the noise. I could not believe my eyes. In my backyard, there were power lines lying across the yard, tree branches more than 15ft long lying in the road, and my street light still burning from earlier. As I looked passed my house, I saw more damage around the neighborhood as well. A tree branch on top of a house, branches about to snap from their roots. I decided to get dressed and take some photographs of what I saw outside my bedroom window. From these three pictures is the worst of what I saw. I have a feeling that there is MUCH worse damage around the city.
