Black Pine hosted it's second annual Cats 'n' Cocoa winter fundraiser event today at the sanctuary in Albion. Over 100 visitors and supporters came out to join the staff as they delivered hand-crafted meat pinatas to the big cats for enrichment. Bottomless hot cocoa and unseasonably warm weather made for a wonderful day among the more than 85 exotic rescued pets and retired performers. All proceeds of the event will help fund continued winter care for the residents. Black Pine will reopen for the summer season Memorial Day weekend, and will host hundreds of school children between now and then.
