My children were playing outside and came across this large spider. You can see that she has her egg sac still attached.

Be careful when digging around in your flower bed! This brown lady was found hiding under mulch.

Are you quite sure that is a brown recluse? The shape seems off. many times the large brown sac spiders in the garden are harmless. I do agree with Brandon though-- if it is indeed a recluse, they can be very poisonous.

I looked up several images online and it looks like a brown recluse to me. However, I am not an expert so I cannot be 100% sure.

This following link has some great info and it has one of the pictures I compared this spider with. I hope this helps. http://www.everythingabout.net/articles/biology/animals/arthropods/arachnids/spiders/brown_recluse_spider/

Sounds like you checked it carefully. Usually those spiders like to be inside, particularly in closets. Their bite isn't deadly necessarily, but it does cause sickness. I ended up ''bombing" my house to rid it of the little monsters a few years ago.

The brown recluse is found more in southern Indiana, but can be found in the north. While usually not too dark, they can be. Some spiders carry their egg sack with them, but the brown recluse does not. Wolf spiders are often mistaken for them.

Your picture of a so called brown recluse doesn't look like a brown recluse. The best way to tell one is the up side down Violin shape on back of head if it don't have that it not a brown recluse . I live in Ocala Florida and they are every where.

If you get bit by a brown recluse you need to get to hospital because they plant their eggs in the bite so when the baby ones are born they start to eat you inside your skin and it can get real bad you can die from it.

More than likely it's not a brown recluse, but what's known as a Sac Spider.. often times they're yellow, but they can also be brownish. Sac spider bites are still poisonous. The Purdue extension office on the IPFW campus can ID spiders...

I can't tell from the picture, but if it is a recluse, be careful. The poison can kill and infect the skin and create huge problems. There are many sites you can find pictures to compare and also information that might be a life saver.

It is not a wolf spider, anonymous, i have seen many wolf spiders, that it isnt. however i do not think it is a brown recluse, but still would not want to come into contact with it.

i don't think its a brown recluse, Kenneth Wells is right about the violin marking on its head.i was bitten by one in oklahoma. poison can kill if you wait too long for help. while black widow paralyzes its victim, recluse decays the flesh.

Deadly poison or not, a spider bite can be troublesome. Even the most harmless spider can leave a nasty bite. My son had an allergic reaction to a wolf spider that ended up costing tons of money in Doc bills and medication. KILL IT!

Yes, agree, they are usually smaller with violin on back. I got bit and had months of healing a large hole on my leg where the skin died and sunk large hole in my leg. I also know of someone who died from a bite on cheek. These are serious!!

Looking for identification of spider leaving large pink egg sacs under house eves. Stickier than most. At least twice as large as others. We do have Black Widows and Brown recluse in our area. We have seen both and some realy stange ones .
