Leo is a Treeing Mountain Feist! Many people ask us if he is a Miniature Pinscher, however he is not even related to the breed! The breed is not AKC but is NKC because they are used for hunting mostly! Our Leo doesn’t hunt but if he did he would hunt Squirrels, rabbits and other rodents! I have also learned through research that the bread is not new and has been around since Abraham Lincoln’s presidency! The breed being mentioned in the poem the “the bear hunt” by Abraham Lincoln! I have herd from Feist breeders that many presidents have owned Feist as well. They even mention them in the diary of George Washington! Interesting enough they are also mentioned in “go down moses” by William Faulkner. This friendly, protective and hunting dog comes in many colors from white, tan, reddish brown and the black and tan that we have! I think Leo is the cutest and even if not picked he’s number one to us in our family!
