I'm Allison and I live in Fremont, Indiana. Well I first decided I wanted to be a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine when I was 14. I'd had the same dog since I was 4 and well, she ignored me. We had to put her to sleep a few months ago. However, when I was 17 a stray tom cat started coming around. He was the friendliest cat I'd ever met. It was winter and I'd always wanted another animal in the house so I figured I'd warm my parents up to the idea. I mean we just couldn't leave him out in the cold even though he was a stray and had probably been through it already. We named him Oz and my dad likes him, doesn't really love him cause he's more of a dog person but my mom, brother, and I adore him cause he nuzzles your face for attention. So the cat is our furry buddy standing on the bricks of the campfire pit in our front yard during sunset last week. Then a year later when I was 18 I was working at the veterinary clinic I've been at for 5 years now and a couple brought in their two litters of puppies for us to care for while they spent some time in the hospital. One litter was Australian Shepard & Jack Russel mix while the other was Australian Cattledog & Jack Russel Mix. I was blinded by how cute they were. I fell in love with the Australian Cattledog litter. They were being adopted out for a mere $50 so I decided what the heck I'm getting one. So without telling my parents I once again brought home another animal. I knew our other dog was getting older and I figured the addition could learn from her before she passed on. I never knew he'd keep her alive longer. Bringing a puppy into the house spruced her up. She played with him even at being almost 15 years old. I named him Pongo. I've acquired a knack for naming our animals after movie characters. I brought him home one night after work to find only my brother home. We'd never had a puppy to play with so he fell in love with Pongo immediately. My mom came home and her first question as she saw Pongo scamper under the futon was, "What is that!?!?!" For Pongo looked like an anteater, koala bear, bear, pig, etc mix. He wasn't and still isn't exactly the cutest animal but he's so unique in his color, body, and personality we can't get enough of him. My dad works out of town through the week so he came home a few days later and walked into my room to find me holding Pongo on my bed with my mom on the end. I was like, "Dad, meet Pongo!" He responded with, "no," and shut my door. Through the next few months he wanted me to get rid of him because we still had our older dog and Oz but you'd frequently catch him babying Pongo and I'd always say, "yeah you don't love him at all!" Of course he'd respond with something smart but today he will openly admit he loves Pongo so much. Pongo is the farthest thing from a lazy dog. He loooooooves to play ball. We have a long yard and we can use a racket to hit it to the end and he'll chase it and bring it back ... it never ends! In the house he'll bring you a toy. If you ignore him he'll bring you all of his toys. Playing for him is a necessity, he wants to play 24/7 whether he's indoors or outdoors. He recently was running down our dock and got his leg stuck in a crack and broke his radius and even with a cast he'll bring you every toy or his ball and want you to play; I feel terrible not being able to play with him but we can't risk hurting his arm anymore, we just need it to heal. He's realized to be careful when we call "treat" because he knows that's how we lure him to brush his teeth or give him a bath. He's probably the most brilliant dog I've ever met and I love him more than anything, if you couldn't tell. We call his toys different things and we can tell him to go get his "tug tug" and he'll bring it to us. We can also tell him to go "poddy" and he'll look at us then go the restroom. He goes insane at the words "truck, swim, play, or ball." I go to school 2 hours away and he always knows when I'm about to leave again because he'll get really depressed and follow me around or when I come home from school he'll stalk me for a day to make sure I'm not going anywhere. These pictures are of him last winter outside playing ball. I really wanted to catch him playing in the snow and show the contrast between his coat and the snow.
