Volunteers have been busy and having fun at Black Pine Animal Park this summer!
As construction continues on new permanent animal habitats, visitors are enjoying the return of the park's Feeding Tours that enable them to observe as keepers as they deliver food to resident monkeys, birds, cats, and other rescued and retired exotic animals.
Volunteers, including members of Albion-based group Kairo's Carpenters, are helping keep construction rolling along to improve the lives of more than 85 animal residents. Most recent projects include a new outdoor habitat for the chimpanzees, a tiger habitat that will soon permanently house four Bengal tigers, and two new shade shelters for the many pasture animals to enjoy.
Black Pine will remain open daily through Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. offering sanctuary tours. Guests can enjoy the popular Feeding Tours offered every Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. For more information and volunteer opportunities, visit http://www.blackpineanimalpark.com or call the park at (260) 636-7383. Black Pine is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
