Ambassador's Meet to Support Veteran's

On September 18-19,2009 U.S. Army Freedom Team Ambassadors from Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin met to learn more about how to show support for U.S. Army Veteran's and their Supporters. Among the group of those attending was Fort Wayne native Emery McClendon, McClendon has been involved with the program for about two years now.

"I became involved with the program after receiving a Commendation from the U.S. Army for my work with events that showed appreciation for our Troops, and Veterans using Amateur Radio."
Amateur Radio Military Appreciation Day or ARMAD.

The conference was held in Chicago, IL. on September 18 - 19, 2009, to train Volunteer Ambassadors from Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Ambassadors received training from the staff of The Freedom Team Salute organization, which is a branch and outreach of The U.S. Army; and is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.

The purpose of the training was to better equip the Ambassadors to locate U.S. Army Veteran's, their spouses, parents, employer's. and supporter's; so that they can receive a special thank you Commendation. Along with the training the Ambassadors also shared their experiences with this program, and enjoyed a dinner and luncheon.

Included in the commendation packet is a letter signed by the U.S. Army Chief Of Staff, and the Secretary of the Army; an official U.S. Army insignia Lapel Pin, and a Certificate of Appreciation signed by both the Secretary of the Army and Army Chief of Staff; and a U.S. Army Display Decal.

The program recognizes the essential bond between Soldiers, Family and Community; celebrates the sacrifices made by all those who support our Soldiers; and honors the millions of Soldier Veterans who have served and who remain as our living connection to generations of duty, honor, and patriotism.
