Meeting Rich Williams Of Kansas

Rich Williams (Guitarist of Kansas)

I was down in Muncie,IN at Ball State last night to see the Kansas/STYX concert. Kansas has been around for 35 years. Kansas had just opened up for STYX and I really wanted to meet the band. There was a 30 minute intermission. I have always been a Kansas fan since "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind" came out in the 70s. I had seen Kansas before open up for YES in Phoenix,AZ years back, and I have never seen a bad concert by them. I could actually have left after watching Kansas and felt I had gotten my money's worth on the ticket.
Rich Williams (guitarist) had walked back to have a smoke, and make some phone calls. His presence reminded me of an old pirate who lost his eye, and reminded me of their album my dad shown me, of the ship going down and people long ago would beleive the world was flat and ships would go over the edge and sea creatures would gobble up the ship and mates aboard at the bottom.
Rich was very nice and signed my concert ticket and we had this photo taken. I later seen Steve Walsh (lead singer) and got him to sign my ticket also.
The group were very nice, and put on a great show. I had told Rich that they should have kept their song,"Carry on Wayward Son" at the end of Henry Winkler's movie , "Heros" (Vietnam veteran going to California trying to get over the war) and that it was perfect for the ending. As a Desert Storm vet. I appreicate the movie even more today. Rich was not sure why they took it out either. I would highly recommend others to see Kansas in concert. They are true artists.
