I was born on July 22nd.This time 40 years ago man first walked on the moon.
In 1934 it happened to be the same day that Indianapolis born, Chicago Mobster John Dillinger was killed.
This movie theater was also in the new movie,"Public Enemies" with actor Johnny Depp.
I had always thought through this movie,and other movies, that Dillinger was tommy gunned down right in front of the theater after pulling out a pistol, but actually there is a small alley just up the sidewalk where the police had chased him into. There were 5 shots and 3 of them hit him and Dillinger hit the pavement face down.
I hope everyone gets a chance to stop by and see this urban OK corral. Remember when you get here that John DIllinger died in the alley. It makes this story that much more sad really. It is a shame that in Fort Wayne we still have bank robberies but maybe a story like this one will change a criminal mind before acting so cowardly.
