Photographer Julie Dant has been smothering her victims for three weeks now with absolutely no fear of the consequences. What's even more strange is the fact that all of her 'victims' are seeking her out in the hopes of BEING 'smothered' chocolate drizzle, that is.
Julie wants to stress that this is not her original idea. A fantastic photographer named Katherine Bish of St. Louis had the idea to use Hersey's Chocolate syrup to simulate the look of crude oil, so that she could raise awareness to the plight of all the birds and other wildlife being affected by the Gulf Oil Spill.
Julie was so enthralled and touched by Katherine's work, and the fact that people were lining up outside the studio to get photographed, she decided to introduce the same sort of opportunity to residents in her small hometown of Washington, Indiana. "I just knew that there would be many, many people who would want to do something like this, just for the personal satisfaction of knowing that they are actually doing something to help get the word out further in our own community, and it is unlikely that many of us can travel to St. Louis to join in Ms. Bish's photo project."
So Julie simply announced it on her Facebook page and it has grown from there. She photographs volunteers and puts some of the photos up on Facebook for the world to see.
Julie's ultimate intention and goal is to raise enough money to send down to a family living on Grand Isle who have been devastated financially by the loss of income from not being able to fish for their livelihood in the oil covered Gulf waters.
To accomplish this, Julie has contacted a hugely talented local producer, Mike A. Walters of MAW Video Productions, who has agreed to donate his services and time to produce a video DVD of her, some say disturbing, black and white artistic photographs and then offer it for sale, with all profits to be donated to aid a struggling family from Grand Isle.
Julie wishes to thank all the volunteer models for their fantastic enthusiasm and support in her Gulf Oil Spill Awareness Project.
