The Heller Family has the tradition on Thanksgiving that each family member comes to Thanksgiving dinner dressed as either a Pilgrim or an Indian. This year we played Thanksgiving Jeopardy, with Turkey Trivia and Thanksgiving Trivia as two of our catagories. The tradition was started when our parents were still with us and we have carried on the tradition after they have both passed.

Steve and I have 2 beautiful teenage girls in our 2 bedroom home. We decided a long a few years ago that our girls needed a bedroom of their own for themselves. So Steve and I have been sleeping apart downstairs for the last 10 years. Steve on an old futon mattress in our kitchen/family room as I have been sleeping on the couch in our living room. Both pieces of furniture were used when we got the them but we didn't mind. Now they are very worn and decrepit. The girls are growing and our oldest is about to move out. Since we are about able to sleep in the same bed again I thought it would be nice to get a NEW double bed for upstairs, yet replace the futon for a NEW one for our family room and a NEW couch that we have never had before. We have been married for 17 years and feel this might just be our lucky break!!

We are most thankful for our children. They stay sick in the winter because of asthma. Our son Messiah got his sister's used baby mattress when he was in a crib. It now lays on his toddler bed (he is 6). We bought him a used twin size bed but can't buy a mattress. Recently we was told our daughter, AnneMarie(8), has a allergy to dust. She sleeps on a used bed and mattress and if we change and incase the mattress it could help her breath easier at night. They only have a set or two of sheets. When they are up all night they sleep on the couch which is also used and hard to sit on. We have a dinning room set, but i had to redo the top on it because it buckled , the other day we lost a chair and now Mom and Dad cant both sit at the table for dinner. Our kids are on the honor roll at school and are well behaved for them we are THANKFUL

We are a happy family of three with a 2yr old daughter that is our world. If we won the shopping spree we would use it to get new bed room furniture. When times were tough we were able to get a used set from a friend of the family. However that set has seen it's last days. The drawers no long want to open and close like they should. The bed frame is breaking and every chance she gets our daughter jumps on it not making the situation any better.
It will be a long while before we have money to spend on new furniture so this would really help us out!!
Thanks!!

EVERY YEAR WE TRY TO GET TOGETHER FOR THE MAJOR HOLIDAYS. WE USUALLY HAVE THANKSGIVING AT OUR HOUSE WHEN POSSIBLE. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A NEW DINETTE SET SO WE HAVE A PLACE TO SIT DOWN. THE TABLE WE HAVE NOW IS AN OLD CORNER TABLE AND IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND ONE SIDE HAS NO BACK TO IT. I WOULD JUST LOVE TO HAVE A TABLE WHERE YOU HAVE YOUR OWN SEAT. A NEW BED MATTRESS WOULD ALSO BE GREAT, WHEN WE HAVE OVERNIGHT VISITORS I ALWAYS OFFER OUR BEDROOM FOR PRIVACY. THE MATTRESS WE HAVE ON OUR BED IS OVER 9 YEARS OLD AND YOU ROLL TOWARD THE CENTER. THESE ARE JUST A FEW THINGS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE AND SINCE I LOST MY JOB THIS YEAR AND MY HUSBAND ISN'T WORKING STEADY WE HAVEN'T HAD THE FUNDS TO REPLACE THINGS LIKE WE SHOULD. SOME OF THE FURNITURE WE HAVE IS SO OLD AND NEEDS REPLACED, I THINK MY END TABLES ARE WELL OVER 20 YEARS OLD, BUT WE CAN LIVE WITH THAT WE JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO SIT AT A TABLE AND ENJOY FAMILY DINING AND GAME TIME. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.

Hello! We are the Gehrings, Mom, Dad, Son, and Beagle make 4. We have very old furniture that is approximately 14 years old. We would love to have Christmas in our new home this year, but the unsightly look of it may scare others away; don't worry we try to keep it covered so this doesn't happen!

We are soon going to be moving into our first house and would enjoy christmas with a few friends and family on clean new furniture. Our current furniture is the same furniture I grew up with(mom), although it has some great memories, I think it is time for it to go; 14 years in furniture years does that convert the same as Dog years?

I would love to host Christmas for the first time, in my new home, I have a close family member on chemo. For those of you who have been through this you know germs are a big no no, so hopefully with your help he can visit and not feel as if he has to be in a bubble. We would love to spend Christmas with new germ free furniture and make him comfortable in our new house at Christmas as well as year round.

So in summery, we would like to host christmas in our home for the first time, and not have to hide our great ol' bettsy, and also be germ free. Will you help us?

It was Thanksgiving 2001, just a few weeks after 9/11. Our family was fortunate to have many members present, even from as far away as Alaska. Our aunt, Carolyn Colpetzer, got everyone a patriotic t-shirt to wear to commemorate the occasion and to show our love of country as well as our love of family. This is a Thanksgiving memory I truly cherish.

Back in October, this year, our grandson, who is two became terribly sick and was rushed to the emergency room. Then he was life flighted to Lutheran Childrens Hospital. There they told us that Gavin has Type 1 diabetes. His blood sugar level was 2200, which is unheard of. God was keeping him alive. Gavin never went into a diabetic coma which is amazing. He was in intensive care for 3 1/2 days and seemed to accept what was happening to him. He only wimpered when poked several times a day. He isn't perfect, of course, he has his "off" moments, but all in all he has been an amazing little boy through all of the adjustments. He seems normal to anyone just looking on but inside is a little boy who has a fighting spirit. He is just like any other two year old little boy and gives his mom and dad trouble sometimes, but his little spirit has accepted this disease and he has the sweetest personality. Now, we could give all the credit to the doctors who were tremendous in his recovery or to Gavin who is a fighter, but that is only parts of the whole. We believe God to be one who brought Gavin through this terrible time and we are thankful to Him for giving us such a wonderful gift in our little grandson. We will have a blessed Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas with him and many more special times. We are so thankful for that.
